Atlantic Shipping has as brokers delivered the purse seiner M/V “Saksaberg” on May 17, 2017 to Smedegaarden A/S, who will scrap the vessel.
“Saksaberg” was built in 1975 at Volda Mekanisk Verksted in Norway. The Norwegian owners named the vessel “Kings Cross”.
The ship was later sold to Fraserburg in Scotland, this was in the mid-1980s.
In 1986, the ship was rebuilt in Skagen. The ship was lengthened and more RSW tanks were installed, the ship was lengthened by approx. 2 m. The vessels dimensions then became 55.60 x 8.60 m.
About 1987 the vessel was sold to Whalsey in Shetland and was named “Research”.
In the spring of 1996 the vessel was sold to the Faroe Islands and was named “Saksaberg”. Since then, the ship has belonged to the company P/F Varðin from Gøta in the Faroe Islands.
